Grinnell comes alive with many events and festivals throughout the year that draw thousands of residents and visitors. Grinnell Games, which won a statewide Tourism award in its first year kicks off the summer in early June and is meant to get everyone actively enjoying the great parks and facilities in town. It includes a kite festival, a skateboarding competition, running, swimming, and biking events, a as well as family activities at a host of locations. Summer continues with the 4th of July festivities and it's Midsummer's Art Festival, Friday Fest, Music in the Park, the Farmers Market, Ridiculous Day and Ag Appreciation Day. Fall plays host to the Prairie Festival at Grinnell College, Jingle Bell Holiday highlights the winter season and spring is greeted by the Business Expo and Home show showcasing Grinnell's business community.
